Ter Stegen, the big debacle

Barcelona plans to withdraw the Capitanat from goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen, due to tensions between the club and the German concerning his future and his decision concerning an operation.

The German veteran is unhappy from the club after having disclosed information about his character to the press and recruited Joan Garcia to replace him.

Ter Stegen announced Thursday that it would be operated on to solve a back problem that has been consuming for him for seven weeks since his selection with Germany.

He said it would be back after three months, when the club hoped to use the emergency rule for injury in order to use part of its salary ceiling to recruit Garcia and Marcus Rashford. The minimum for this rule comes into force is a four -month injury, although TER Stegen's announcement is not likely to have an impact on their ability to do so.

According to MD, Barcelona wishes to withdraw the capital from the 33 -year -old. The Blaugrana were deeply unhappy with his decision to announce the operation after suggesting a joint announcement. Ter Stegen nevertheless decided to do so. The decision was made between the three main managers of Barça: coach Hansi Flick, director of football Deco and President Joan Laporta.

They believe that the team lacks a “valid” link with management and, after having missed most of last season due to injury, it will be unavailable for at least three additional months. Flick will be responsible for approaching the question with Ter Stegen.

Who could replace Ter Stegen?

Currently, Ronald Araujo, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri and Raphinha are all part of the group of captains as vice-camps, and it seems very likely that one of them assumes this role. If Flick decides to recruit a new player, Inigo Martinez, Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres or even Lamine Yamal would be in the running.
