Arsenal concluded a complete agreement with Sporting CP for the recruitment of Viktor Gyokeres, for an estimated transfer of 63.5 million euros (55 million pounds sterling/74 million dollars) in advance, with an additional 10 million euros (8.6 million pounds sterling/12 million dollars) of variable premiums according to performance. This decisive advance intervened after long discussions on the structure and feasibility of the premiums, which had previously blocked the transfer despite a general agreement on the main amount.
8.6 million pounds sterling of variable premiums
The president of Sporting, Frederico Varandas, had insisted that all of the 10 million euros in bonuses would be relatively simple to obtain. He estimated that the majority, or 7.5 million euros, should be collected during the first two gyoker seasons in northern London. After several days of negotiations, the two parties found a compromise. The total amount of 10 million euros remains unchanged, but its payment has been adjusted over a longer period.
Arsenal agreed in the amount of 64 million pounds sterling with Sporting for Gyokeres
According to the Portuguese media Record, revised bonus clauses are now linked to individual and collective objectives. It is important to note that certain successes, such as titles won by Arsenal or qualification for the Champions League, will only give rise to payments if Gyokeres plays an active role during these campaigns. If payment deadlines, solidarity contributions and detailed legal terms remain confidential, the global agreement satisfies both the budget planning of Arsenal and the requirements of Sporting.
The financial conditions being now fully defined, Gyokeres should sign a five -year contract with the Premier League club, binding it to Arsenal until the summer of 2030. The Swedish international clearly indicated throughout the transfers saga that his only preference was to join the Gunners, despite the interest of other major clubs, including Manchester United.
Gyokeres scored 54 goals in just 52 appearances last season, a remarkable return that confirmed his high -level scorer qualities. While the Swedish international will soon wear the red and white jersey of Arsenal, the supporters will be impatient to see with what speed he will adapt to the Premier League and will win.
