No challenge seems too daring for Andy Carroll. After wearing the Girondins de Bordeaux jersey in National 2, chained experiences in Reading and West Bromwich in Championship, and disputed Ligue 2 under the colors of Amiens SC, the English striker is preparing to make his return to the peels of the kingdom.

At 36, the colossus of 1m94 signed up for three seasons with Dagenham & Redbridge, resident of the National League South, is the sixth step of English football. In an interview with The Athleticthe former international justified this amazing choice.

“Build something big”

“I had six or seven clubs on the phone. All played at higher levels. All offered more money. But here, I immediately felt that it was what I was looking for. From the first discussion with the coach (Lee Bradbury, editor's note), I understood. We talked about the project, the structure, what they want to rebuild. This is what I wanted to live ”said Newcastle's child.

“I don't just want to end up cleanly. I want to leave something behind me. I know this film: Go to League One, finish on a bench, take a check. I want to create something else. From very low, but to build something big ”explained Caroll.
