His last season at 20 goals and 7 assists in 38 games left no one indifferent, not even the biggest English clubs that have made feet and hands to recruit him. In recent months, Chelsea, Tottenham or even Liverpool, had all been associated with the Cameroonian international with various degrees. But it was ultimately Manchester United, despite his absence in the European Cup, who knew how to shoot the sensitive string to convince the player.

The English club has formalized the arrival of the former Trojan today via a press release: “Manchester United is pleased to confirm the arrival of Bryan Mbeumo, subject to registration. The Cameroonian international signed a contract until June 2030, with an option to extend one year ”can we read. To get attached to the services of the former French international hope in the next 5 years (more an optional), Manchester United has paid 81 million euros, bonus included (around € 6 million in a priori bonus). A new XXL transfer after that of Matheus Cunha, landed from Wolverhampton a few weeks earlier against around 74 million €.
If all the bonuses are affected, Mbeumo would then become the sixth most expensive player in the history of Manchester United. The first is Paul Pogba, and far enough (€ 105 million), followed by four players with very relative fortunes: Antony, recruited from Ajax against € 95 million in 2022, Harry Maguire, from Leicester for € 87 million, Jadon Sancho, for € 85 million, and finally Romelu Lukaku, for just less than € 85 million.
