Loaned six months at Olympique de Marseille, Ismaël Bennacer did not fully convince. Raised by physical seeds and a lack of rhythm, the Algerian international did not have the hoped for the Marseille midfield. Result: the Marseille club decided not to lift the purchase option set at 12 million euros by AC Milan.
However, OM does not close the door to a return in another form, as revealed by Italian journalist Marco Pasotto in La Gazzetta dello Sport. “OM has announced to the Rossoneri that he would not pay the transfer compensation set at 12 million euros, but that he was trying to know if it was possible to conclude the operation at a lower price. Milan is unlikely to accept. »» Especially since Bennacer does not appear in the Milanese group for the summer tour.
Yanis Sellami in reinforcement
While Bennacer's future remains uncertain, another Algerian player emerges in Marseille. Yanis Sellami, 18, trained at the club, was summoned urgently this Sunday morning by Roberto de Zerbi to join the professional internship group in the Netherlands, in order to compensate for several absences in the middle, including that of Valentin Rongier.
Yanis Sellami signed his first professional contract with OM last December, valid until 2027. Arrived at 14 years from Marignane Gignac FC, he quickly established himself in the youth teams, notably winning the title of champion of France U19 with the Gambardella in 2024.
At KNVB Campus, Sellami has joined several other talents in the training center already present, such as Darryl Bakola, Keyliane Abdallah, Kélian Le Pironnec or Robinio Vaz. Faced with a reduced workforce, from Zerbi could offer these young players during the next friendly match against Olympique Charleroi (Belgian D2) at 6 p.m.
