Marseille: these players who refuse to leave

While the Marseille club continues recruits with ambition-Gomes, Medina and Egan-Riley-departures, they are struggling to materialize. This imbalance is seriously starting to irritate the management. At each transfer window, the same impasse arises: the elements deemed undesirable are slow to find a fall point, forcing the club to improvise internal solutions, like the famous “lofts” which weigh the group atmosphere.

OM wants to sell, but nobody wants to bend baggage

Despite a great season on loan to Panathinaikos, Azzedine Ounahi refuses the offers received, including that of the Spartak Moscow. OM had reached an agreement at 12 million euros with the Russian club, but the Moroccan international said no. Under contract until 2027, he does not seem in a hurry to leave, which seriously tense the Marseille decision -makers. The player camps on his positions, even if it means blocking a way out which would have served both parties.

The Rongier case further complicates the table. He also invited to leave the ship, the fallen captain did not extend his contract, which expires in 2026. The idea of a return to Igor Tudor to Juventus was mentioned, but his profile is not unanimous in Turin. Marseille hoped to include it in a deal with Timothy Weah, but the operation is dragging. Result: Rongier remains at the quay, without clear perspective, neither for him, nor for the club.

A recurring blockage at the Marseille transfer window

Each summer, the scenario is repeated. The recruitment unit acts vigorously in the direction of arrivals, but comes up against players who do not want to lower their claims or leave a comfortable situation. Result: the tensions rise, the budgets derail, and the group is increasing with profiles breaking with the sports project.
