Chelsea broke the impressive invincibility series of Luis Enrique in the final on Sunday. The Blues won 3-0 against PSG in the final match of the 2025 club World Cup. Before this meeting, the Catalan coach accumulated 11 victories in 11 finals played at the head of his clubs.
During his visit to FC Barcelona, Luis Enrique had won six major finals: three King's Cups (2015, 2016, 2017), the Spanish Super Cup in 2016, the Champions League in 2015 and the former version of the Club World Cup in 2015. With PSG, he had chained five successes: two French cups (2024, 2025), two Champions Trophies (2024, 2025) Champions League in 2025.
Until Sunday, his only defeat in the final dates back to his time at the head of the Spanish selection. On the Roja bench in the 2021 League of Nations, he was beaten 2-1 by France. Enzo MARESCA, COLSEA coach, became the second coach to inflict a defeat in the final, after Didier Deschamps.
Forever the first
This lost final also ends the quest for PSG. The European champion was aimed at the perfect season after winning a historic quadruple (Ligue 1, Champions League, French Cup, Champions Trophy).
Chelsea, for his part, will remain in history as the first winner of the new formula of the World Cup of clubs. But also as the only team to have won all existing international competitions: Champions League, Europa League, Europa League Conference, Cups Cup, European Super Cup and Clubs. After Europe, Chelsea now reigns over the world.
