A Ligue 1 club made a very important announcement this Friday.

The news had the effect of a small bomb in the landscape of Ligue 1: Jean-Pierre Rivère is no longer president of theOGC Nice. The Riviera club announced this Friday that its historic leader left his costume to Fabrice Bocquet, who has been managing director of the club since 2022.

“Jean-Pierre Rivère leaves the presidency of the OGC Nice, Fabrice Bocquet, hitherto Managing Director, enthroned President and CEO”can we read in an official press release published on the Gym website.

Jean Pierre Rivère and the OGC Nice, it's over.

“After 14 years at the head of the OGC Nice, Jean-Pierre Rivère decided to leave his functions as president of the club. A decision fully respected by Ineos. This decision will take effect on August 20, 2025. Arrived in 2011, while the club was regularly struggling for its maintenance in Ligue 1, Jean-Pierre Rivère leaves behind a deeply transformed OGC Nice. Under its presidency, the club was structured, professionalized, modernized on all floors. He changed his sporting dimension, competing in the European Cup during seven seasons out of fourteen, while sustainably stabilizing the team among the clubs that have French football. »»

The end of an era for Nice

Nice, however, specifies that Jean-Pierre Rivère will keep a notable role. “However, it does not move away from the gym, to which it remains deeply attached. He will continue to support him as ambassador and becomes president of the OGC Nice endowment fund. He will thus continue to work for the club, in a different role but always carrying meaning. »»

“A big thank you to all those who accompanied me during these beautiful years, it was an exceptional human adventure, reacted the leader. The starting ambition was to position the club in the first part of the table and try to be European, and ultimately find an investor capable of supporting the OGC Nice in its development. Thanks to Ineos, their presence, their investment and their permanent support. The OGC Nice is now a solid, structured and ambitious club. Very happy with the appointment of Fabrice Bocquet who will know, with Florian Maurice and Franck Haise, write very beautiful pages of our club. I leave very serene for the future of the club. »»
