Record in sight at Arsenal! The Gunners are preparing to record the biggest transfer in the history of women's football.

Arsenal will get into the history of football! While Paris Saint-Germain recorded the biggest transfer by hiring Neymar for 222 million euros in 2017, the Gunners will also register a record transfer … in women's football!

On the point of signaling the Canadian attacker, Olivia Smith, from Liverpool, Arsenal will pay an amount of one million pounds, or 1.155 million euros, as indicated by Sky Sport. A sum never seen in women's football again but still very far from the amount paid by PSG to attach the services of Neymar Jr.

In women's football, the former record belonged to Chelsea. During the winter transfer window, the blues had spent 890,000 pounds (1.028 million euros) to have the American defender Naomi Girma signed.

A big blow for Arsenal… and Liverpool!

Liverpool can be congratulated, this record transfer represents for the club a real added value. Last year, the Reds bought the player for 210,000 pounds, five times cheaper than her sale price in Arsenal.

Last season, Olivia Smith, 20, scored 7 goals in 19 games with Liverpool. As for the Canadian selection, the player scored 4 goals in 18 games. In 2019, she had become the youngest player, a man-woman category combined, to play in selection, when she was only 15 years old. His performances then earned him the price of best Canadian player in 2019 and 2024.

While the Gunners seek to develop their female team, after winning the second Champions League in their history last season, there is no doubt that Olivia Smith will become one of the key elements of the London club.
