It is a soap opera that we would have liked to do without, but which unfortunately risks fueling many debates and controversies in the coming weeks. Earlier this week, a few days after the death of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva on a Spanish highway, the first elements of the investigation had Spanish Civil Guardia leaked in the media. The accident would have been caused by a great speeding on a portion limited to 120 km/h, and according to this version, it was the Portuguese international who was driving.
Only, two witnesses of the accident that spoke in the Spanish and Portuguese media deny this official version. José Azevedo, a trucker who had filmed the images of the burnting vehicle, expressed himself in remarks relayed by Marca. “I filmed, I stopped, but I couldn't do anything anymore. I have a quiet conscience. I didn't know who was in it. My condolences to their families ”he launched first.
Two witnesses deny speeding
Before explaining that the vehicle was running at normal speed. “The family has my word that they did not circulate in speeding. I could see the brand and the color of the car when they exceeded me. They were quietly rolling. I go through this road every day, from Monday to Saturday, I know the road, I saw real follies made by other cars, but they were quietly rolling ”he concluded.
José Aleixo Duarte, another trucker witness the accident, spoke to him in the Correo da Manha. “They were driving at moderate speed”he said, adding that the A-52, a highway on which the two brothers circulated, was “In poor condition”.
