It is official, the Professional Football League (LFP) has set up its own channel by creating the Ligue 1+ platform to ensure the broadcast of the French championship from the year 2025-2026. A great first for a national league on the scale of the great Europe of football.
From Friday August 15, the LFP, associated with Mediawan, will assume the production and the retransmission in OTT of eight posters on nine per day of Ligue 1 (the ninth meeting, that of Saturday at 5 p.m., remaining acquired in BeIN Sports). Among which the 10 largest shocks of the season (OL-OM, OM-PSG, etc.), multiplex, dams and champions trophy.
A program that will therefore be available in streaming on the new LFP stamped platform but also with distributors that are Internet access providers – Orange, Bouygues Telecom, Free and SFR in this case – and other market players such as DAZN. Discussions also continue with Amazon or Max, in particular, to further expand the field of possibilities.
The LFP did not understand the Canal+ posture
Not a word on the other hand in the official communication of the League for Canal+, absent from the next school school year. The encrypted chain demanded the exclusivity of the distribution on behalf of the league with all operators, with a guaranteed minimum which was not enough to convince the LFP.
