OM continues its summer recruitment without making madness. After the arrival of the English international hope CJ Egan -Riley, free from any contract after his departure from Burnley (Championship), then the signing of Facundo Medina from the RC Lens as part of a paid loan two million euros -with an obligation to buy 18 million -, the Marseille club hires a new player for free.
Angel Gomes, who agreed a few weeks ago, officially signed his contract until 2028 with Olympique de Marseille on Friday. The English international (4 selections since 2024) also arrives free from any contract after an inconclusive season (20 matches in all competitions, for two goals and a decisive pass).
Son of a former Portuguese player of Angolan origin, Adilson Angel Abreu de Almeida Gomes was born in London (his father played in the London lower division) and joined the Manchester United training center from the age of 9. He made his debut with the Red Devils in May 2017, but never found his place. It was by committing to LOSC that he launched his career by making a good season on loan to Boavista.
OM begins with Rennes, OL and PSG!
Among the DOGUES, Angel Gomes had established himself as a precious midfielder in the game, most of the time placed as number 10. He chained seasons at 30, 39 and 45 games in all competitions, for a total of 10 goals in 134 matches with his first French club. Roberto de Zerbi has a new option to evolve in this sector.
The vice-champions of France began with a shock against the Stade Rennais d'Habib Beye, the weekend of August 17, before receiving Paris FC at the Vélodrome stadium and then playing a second shock against OL, at Groupama Stadium (if the Gones are not relegated to Ligue 2). The first PSG-OM of the season is scheduled for September 21, just after the first day of the Champions League that the Phocaeans will compete.
