The RC Lens finally holds its new goalkeeper. At the end of several weeks of research, the Artesian club formalized this Thursday the signing of Robin Risser, coming from the RC Strasbourg. The 21 -year -old porter, International French Hopes, has signed up for five seasons with the Sang and Gold. Amount of the operation: around 5 million euros, including bonuses.
With the departure of Brice Samba last winter, Lens had to improvise in an emergency by recruiting Mathew Ryan for six months. If the Australian rather convinced during his short passage, the management of the northern club preferred not to extend it. This summer, Lensois leaders wanted to bet on a younger, more durable option.
Diouf, the missed target
RCL's priority was called Yehvann Diouf. The porter of the Reims stadium, also international hopes and Senegalese origin, seemed to check all the boxes. But it was ultimately the OGC Nice that won the bet, forcing Lens to activate another track in an emergency.
The choice then fell on Robin Risser. The goalkeeper trained in Strasbourg, loaned to the Red Star last season, made a good campaign, confirming his potential. The native of Colmar will now cross a big level by joining Ligue 1.
With this recruitment, Racing bets on the future. At 21, Risser has never played at the highest level, but his performances and profile convinced the Artesian leaders to entrust him with the keys to the position this season.
