Now led by the top scorer in the history of the French team Olivier Giroud, the LOSC is preparing to compete, in addition to the Ligue 1, the Europa League.

“I am not worried about my level of play, my physical abilities. I chose to come back to a championship that I know, with characteristics that correspond to me, a way of working that I know. I come back for the pleasure of the game, in a championship that will correspond to me more. I need challenges, to challenge myself, and this challenge speaks to me ”notably launched Olivier Giroud during his presentation press conference at LOSC on Wednesday.

The 2018 world champion, top scorer in the history of the French team, will not only find Ligue 1, a championship he won with Montpellier in 2012 (13 years ago!) By finishing top scorer. He will also play the Europa League, which he won with Chelsea in 2019, being first scorer in the final against Arsenal (4-1).

The Dogues of Bruno Genesio did not manage to win a qualification in the Champions League by finishing 5th on equal points with the OGC Nice, 4th but forced to start with in the 3rd qualifying round of the C1. Jonathan David and his teammates were well busy with the LDC. Arrived 7th in the general classification (with five victories) and therefore exempt from dams, Lille fell from the knockout stages against Dortmund (1-1, 2-1).

Roma, Porto, Aston Villa and Betis to avoid for LOSC

The LOSC, 31st in the UEFA coefficient, is already guaranteed to appear in the head of the heads of the series of the Europa League. As a reminder, as in C1, the participants of the second European Cup face two teams from each hat. The Lille can therefore fall on heavy with AS Rome, FC Porto, Dinamo Zagreb, Real Betis and Aston Villa in hats 1, just like the Rangers, Feyenoord and Salzburg in case of qualification in dams.

In addition to Roma and Aston Villa, Olivier Giroud can find other clubs already faced in Serie A with AC Milan and in the Premier League under the colors of its two former London clubs. Crystal Palace, winner of FA Cup, is the team to avoid in hat 3, while Bologna, winner of the Italian Cup, will be in hat 4 of the draw. Other quality teams for LOSC, OL (if he is kept in Ligue 1) and Nice (if the Aiglons are eliminated from the LDC)? Fenerbahçe, Celta de Vigo or Stuttgart.
