Nottingham Forest took the first step in the search for the winger Malick Fofana by reaching an agreement with the Lyon Ligue 1 club, as Fabrizio Romano revealed.

The 20 -year -old Belgian is one of the most wanted young attackers in Europe and, although clubs agreed on the terms, Forest still has to obtain the player's agreement before finalizing the transfer.

Chelsea appeared as a serious competitor for Fofana, Romano noting that the blues remain “eager” to ensure his services. The blues are not the only ones to be interested in Fofana: Bayern Munich and Napoli also closely follow the evolution of the situation. With such interest from clubs playing the Champions League, Fofana would wait to see if other options arise before making a final decision on its next destination.

Chelsea on the lookout in the Fofana file

Fofana experienced an impressive campaign last season, scoring 11 goals and delivering six assists. Mainly right wing, the Belgian is known for his adaptability, capable of evolving on one or the other wing. For a Chelsea team that needs greater firepower and greater width, its profile perfectly corresponds to its tactical needs.

A versatile player

The unexpected relegation of Lyon due to financial problems has created an opportunity for clubs to seize their best talents. The French club should separate from several players in the coming weeks to lighten its financial burden. For Chelsea, this is an opportunity to bring the attacker.
The western London club has already taken measures during the transfer period, with the acquisition of the young striker Liam Delap and the imminent arrival of Jamie Gittens. Fofana could be the last piece of Chelsea's offensive puzzle, which seeks to rejuvenate its line of attack.
