Rongier says no to OM: a start in the air
According to RMC Sport, Valentin Rongier did not accept the extension offer transmitted by OM. The midfielder, under contract until June 2026, would have liked wage conditions closer to those of Ismaël Bennacer (€ 450,000 monthly), well beyond his current € 330,000. In the absence of agreement, the management now plans to transfer in order to avoid a free departure next summer.
With only 19 tenure last season in Ligue 1 (out of 27 appearances), Rongier seems to have lost his influence. His playing time (1728 minutes) makes it the ninth most used player in the workforce. A regression contrasting with elements like Greenwood (36 games), and which may have influenced his contractual reflection.

A new headache for Zerbi
Despite this state of affairs, Roberto de Zerbi was still on Rongier to structure his midfield. The player remains appreciated for his versatility, his reading of the game and his experience. But at the time of reorganizing the environment, OM may have to look for a successor this summer.
This potential departure destabilizes the strategy of one from Zerbi who wanted to capitalize on the elders to transmit his principles. A new project therefore opens for Pablo Longoria, forced to act quickly to fill a vacuum which he did not expect.
