The German goalkeeper does not want to leave, but he poses a drastic condition. And if Barça refused to hear it, the rupture would become inevitable.

While the transfer window comes alive, a tense file is starting to seriously embarrass FC Barcelona. Marc-André Ter Stegen, a club figure for almost a decade, has seen his place questioned. The arrival of Joan Garcia, a young porter of the Espanyol, changed the situation. And the German goalkeeper, far from accepting a relegation to the background, addresses a clear warning to his leaders.

According to the Catalan press, the German champion does not intend to pack his suitcases without compensation. If he readily admits that he would like to stay at Barça, he poses a clear condition: to perceive the entirety of his current contract until 2028 in the event of departure. A heavy requirement, which corresponds to one of the biggest wages of the Blaugrana workforce.

Ter Stegen sets his conditions at Barça

According to SportTer Stegen saw the current situation very badly. Not informed of club plans, he says he is betrayed. Monaco's supposed offer was swept away with a back of hand, proof that the player is not ready to leave without real contractual recognition. For him, being dismissed without discussion is unacceptable.

Barça, for its part, tries to speed up the transition. Joan Garcia is expected to become number one. Deco, sports director, said that he did not need to “speak to Ter Stegen”, adding that his mission was to “build the best team possible”.

While the recovery promises to be for mid-July, a meeting between Ter Stegen and Hansi Flick is expected. German still wants to believe that he can win back his place. But if Barça camps in its position, the outcome could be judicial … or costly.
