For a long time, a long time, uncertainty around the immediate future of Cristiano Ronaldo has been talked about. While he was under contract with Al-Nassr until June 30, 2025, the Portuguese made the suspense last. And it was finally four days before the deadline that an agreement around an extension of two additional years was announced.

A few weeks earlier, the possibility of seeing the fivefold Ballon d'Or spin in a team engaged in the World Cup of clubs had gained some magnitude, especially when the boss of FIFA himself had got involved. But nothing had moved and Cristiano Ronaldo therefore chose to stay where he has been since January 2023.

After days and days of media silence, the former Manchester United delivered his explanations in an interview with the media of the Saudi Pro League. CR7 first talked about its primary objective. “Win something important with Al-Nassr, I still believe it. This is why I renewed my contract for two years, because I am convinced that I will be champion in Saudi Arabia. »»

Then the player spoke about the options that were offered to him.
“I received a few proposals to play the Club World Cup, but I thought it didn't make sense. I preferred to rest and prepare well because this season will be very long with the World Cup (2026). »» Anxious to highlight the Saudi Arabian championship, the Lusitanian reiterated what he had already said: “I think that currently, the Saudi Pro League is already part of the Top 5. (…) Only those who have never played in Saudi Arabia understand nothing in football and say that this championship is not part of the Top 5.”

Finally, Cristiano Ronaldo said all his love for his host country. “” I am Portuguese, but I belong to Saudi Arabia. (…) This is why I stay two more years. Not only as a footballer, but also as an actor in the country's life because my contribution is not limited to football, but to everything. I want to participate in the country's growth forever. »»
