A month and a half of the start of the Ligue 1 season (the weekend of August 15), we still do not know if the LFP will be associated with an audiovisual group to produce its TV channel and if it will count on the power of Canal+ in terms of distribution. The C+group, ex- “Historical Partner” of the Hexagonal Championship, is ready to distribute the League channel (failing to produce it) by offering the poster of Sunday in co-diffusion, in the wake of the
Canal Football Clubas in the great time.

The two parties are far from finding an agreement. Maxime Saada, the president of the Canal+group, imagines a guaranteed minimum of a hundred million euros while his interlocutor, Nicolas de Tavernost, the director general of LFP Media, still hopes to pocket at least 200 million. In the week, Tavernost reassured the presidents of Ligue 1 by announcing a new meeting with Saada except that it will not take place because of the positions far too far from the moment, as indicated
The team.

It must be said that Canal+ has another importation of importance, concerning the thorny case of the price of the monthly subscription. As a reminder, Dazn has changed Ligue 1 in economic misery by initially fixing the subscription price at almost 40 euros per month (!), For eight of the nine matches of each day (beIN Sports being a shock of Saturday afternoon).

Ligue 1 to 10 euros?

While hundreds of thousands of French football followers turned to illegal means to see the rare L1 matches, the LFP is betting today on a subscription price at around 20 euros per month. For its part, Canal+ wants to hit hard by offering the Ligue 1 channel to 15 euros per month and even 10 euros for its subscribers!

The return of Canal+ alongside Ligue 1 would be an unexpected boon since the “encrypted chain”, especially if it broadcasts the shock of Sunday evening, would offer an XXL exhibition to the new league device, as it does with Bein Sports. However, the Canal+group, controlled by Vincent Bolloré, obviously hoped to return to the low -cost game. Result of the races after several weeks of negotiations, C+ is closer to leave the game than to give hope to the elite clubs.
