In the Ligue 1 running-gags category, the multiple reserves deposited after almost every match of Thiago Almada with Olympique Lyonnais had won the palm last season. But requests for postponement from Paris Saint-Germain arrived just behind, and this soap opera is far from over.
From the first day of the 2025-2026 season, PSG asked for a postponement of its match with the LFP. The reason? The participation of French champions in the World Cup, which could end in mid-July, and the European Super Cup against Tottenham, scheduled for August 13, just before the resumption of the L1 (August 15-17).
Thursday evening, the team indicated that the LFP had accepted the request of the Parisians. But in the process, Ouest-France announced the opposite. The meeting should be held well on August 16 or 17. In any case, this is what is announced this Friday at the time of the publication of the calendar.
Nantes-Psg, already last season …
Last season, the postponement of the Nantes-PSG scheduled for the end of the season had already been controversial. PSG wanted to preserve itself between its two Champions League meetings against Aston Villa, which seemed superfluous in the eyes of the Canaries, because the men of Luis Enrique were already assured of the title in Ligue 1 and could therefore afford to run.
Conversely, Nantes played his survival in Ligue 1, and did not want a chambered calendar with a week with three matches on the date of postponement. It is ultimately the famous “Upper interest of French football” who had prevailed.
