PSG fell high on the lawn of Passadena Rose Bowl. Four days after having swapped Atletico Madrid (4-0) there, the European champions billed the dust there, beaten by Botafogo (1-0) for their second match in the Club World Cup.

As expected, Luis Enrique had decided to turn to the last winner of the Copa Libertadores. In defense, Marquinhos and Nuno Mendes had given way to Lucas Beraldo and Lucas Hernandez and in the midfield, Joao Neves and Fabian Ruiz had been preserved for the benefit of Warren Zaïre-Emery and Senny Mayulu.

And during the first thirty minutes, these changes did not seem to disturb the Parisians. As usual, PSG has indeed confiscated the ball and seemed to master the debates. Conversely, Botafogo was reduced to defending it, arc-bouted on its goal.

PSG back to the wall

But that was without counting on a counterattack quickly played by the Brazilians and a ball put in depth for Igor Jesus. At the duel with Pacho and Beraldo, the Botafogo striker managed to shoot at the entrance to the surface and saw his ball slightly countered by the Equatorian. This was enough to surprise Gianluigi Donnarumma, which remained on his heels.

For more than an hour, Parisians were still a little more besieged by the Brazilian goal, without nevertheless managed to get serious occasions. Luis Enrique did not hesitate to bring Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves, Bradley Barcola and Fabian Ruiz shortly after the return of the locker room, but without effect.

The score was indeed going to stop there and the PSG is now unfortunate in the race for qualification. He will absolutely have to beat Seattle in his third match to win his ticket for the knockout stages, his 4-0 victory won against Atletico Madrid that can be precious in case of equality …
