At 39, Sergio Ramos recently joined the Rayados in Monterrey, Mexico, to compete in the Club World Cup. And he scored in the first game against Inter!

The 2025 club World Cup is the baroud of honor of two central legendary defenders. Thiago Silva, 40, is the captain of Fluminense. The Rio de Janeiro club mistreated Borussia Dortmund without winning (0-0) on Tuesday at Metlife Stadium in the suburbs of New York. A little later in the day (in the middle of the night in France), at the pink Bowl de Pasadena, it was Sergio Ramos, 39, who entered the running with Monterrey.

The Andalusian, also passed through PSG (2021-2023), only remained one year in Seville, in his training club, before going on an adventure by engaging with Mexican training (in the same region as the tigers of André-Pierre Gignac). He was committed last February with the winner of the CONCACAF 2021 Champions League, a few months old from the Club World Cup organized in the United States.

Sergio Ramos is also the captain of his team, with number 93 in the back, in reference to his memorable equalizing goal during the decima of Real Madrid, the 10th coronation in the Champions League of Casa Blanca in 2014, obtained after extension against Atlético (4-1).

The 2010 world champion opened the scoring for the Rayados against Inter Milan (1-1), with a resumption of the head on a corner of his compatriot Oliver Torres (25th). Yann Sommer could not do anything (but Lautaro Martinez equalized before half-time). Sergio Ramos has become the oldest scorer in the history of the Club World Cup at 39 and 80 days, ahead of Javier Zanetti, goalscorer in 2010 in the semi-finals against Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma, at 37 and 127 days. The Sevillan can establish his record in the next two Monterrey matches in this group phase, against the Marcelo Gallardo River Plate and the Urawa Red Diamonds.
