Paris Saint-Germain began its club World Cup this Sunday evening against Atlético de Madrid on Sunday evening, at the legendary Rose Bowl de Pasadena, in the United States. Halted with his coronation in the Champions League and a new title of champion of France, the club of the capital was aimed at an unprecedented trophy to conclude an already memorable season. Opposite, Atlético had presented itself in shape, strong with a wide success 4-0 in Girona to close its season and a 3rd place in Liga. A real test for Parisians, who approached this competition with ambition, faced with an opponent determined to make an impression.

The first real opportunity was for Atlético: Julián Álvarez tried his luck on a free kick in halfway, but the ball is right next to the right post (3rd). In the process, Achraf Hakimi (4th) then Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (5th) resumed the PSG initiative, without success. Very active in the first quarter of an hour, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is the first to throw himself on a badly pushed ball in the area. Its strike towards the left corner is pushed by a superb stop by the goalkeeper (17th). A few seconds later, the Georgian winger turns into a smuggler: he serves Fabián Ruiz at the entrance to the surface, whose precise shot finds the small right net (19th, 1-0). The Madrilenians then kept control of the ball, but encountered collective solidity and high pressure of PSG.

Paris takes off

Confirming the clear Parisian domination since the start, Vitinha scored the second goal just before the break (45th+2, 2-0). Upon returning from the locker room, Mendes served Kvaratskhelia to the left of the surface. The Georgian chained hook and hitting in the skylight, but Oblak diverted on the transversal (50th). Shortly after, Goué tried a double-contact to spend between two players, but he was jostled by Koke. The referee let play, allowing Simeone to launch Alvarez on the right. The striker sent a cross shot that deceived Donnarumma to the ground. However, the purpose of the Colchoneros was finally canceled, precisely, for a fault of Koke on Doué in the middle of the field (59th). Atlético then tried to calm the game, without real success. Julian Alvarez received a millimeter pass, but a Parisian defender stole the ball (74th).

A few minutes later, Clément Lenglet, on the Atlético side, was expelled after a second yellow card for a avoidable fault (79th), leaving the Madrilenians to ten. Alexander Sørloth then lacked a great opportunity to reduce the gap (82nd). At the end of the match, Senny Mayulu came to perfect the victory of his family thanks to a third goal (87th, 3-0). In the last moments of the match, Mbaye won in the shoulder against Llorente, entered the area and struck hard. But a defender touched the ball in the hand in the area. The penalty was then transformed by Kang-in Lee (90th+7, 4-0). Thanks to its inaugural victory (4-0), the Ile-de-France club seizes the first place in its group.
