Double champion of France with Bordeaux then OM, under the orders of Laurent Blanc then Didier Deschamps, the Senegalese defender Souleymane Diawara participated in a charity match last weekend.

Christian Karembeu as a captain, Marcel Desailly in legendary football on the ground, but also the illustrious Alain Giresse and Dominique Rocheteau, the former tricolor internationals Frédéric Déhu, Florent Malouda, Loïc Rémy, Guillaume Hoarau or the ex-players of Ligue 1 Souleymane Diawara, Taye Taiwo, Mevlüt Erdinç and Diego Rolan. They were all gathered for a charity match in Lodz on Saturday in the middle of Poland.

With the help of Grzegorz Krychowiak, a former Polish international trained in the Girondins de Bordeaux (and passed through PSG), a “legendary match” could be organized for the benefit of a foundation helping children. We had the right to a Poland-France with many local celebrities, whose legend of the country Zbigniew Boniek, star striker of Poland 3rd in the 1982 World Cup (before France), and winner of the Cup of Champions Clubs with Juventus by Michel Platini in 1985.

Ludovic Obraniak, a French and international naturalized French attacking midfielder from 2009 to 2014 (34 games, 6 goals), also answered Polish on the Polish side.

The French team was therefore supplemented by former players in the championship. Souleymane Diawara and Mevlüt Erdinç (poorly spelled in Erding during his career) had their place since they are “binationals”. The Senegalese central defender, born in the country, grew up in Le Havre and was trained at the Norman club training center before being champion of France twice, with the Bordeaux de Laurent Blanc then the OM of Didier Deschamps the year after (2009 and 2010). Diawara continues events of this type. He has just played the jubilee of Djibril Cissé, in Auxerre, then the Legends match of FC Nantes at Beaujoire. Erdinç is native of the Jura and was trained in Sochaux.

The Nigerian side Taye Taye Taye Taye, OM player from 2005 to 2011, and Diego Rolan, Uruguayan striker who passed by the Girondins (2013-2018), also wore the “France” team for the occasion, just like the German goalkeeper Jens Lehmann, who played in Arsenal and AC Milan but not in the French championship.
