Real Madrid is expecting significant workforce changes this summer, with the implementation of the new Xabi Alonso project within the club. Modric leaves the club after 13 years spent in Madrid, where the Croatian won many major trophies.
However, after the victory in the final of the season against Real Sociedad, a second free transfer was also confirmed: the veteran defender Lucas Vazquez also ends his ten years at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
Lucas Vazquez's career in Real Madrid is rich
Born in Galicia, Vazquez was trained at the Real Madrid training center – before a loan at Espanyol in 2014/15 – and he ended his career with 400 club appearances.
During its ten years in Real Madrid, Vazquez's versatility was a constant under different coaches, the Spanish international alternating between right and rear right.
His final record includes four liga titles and five UEFA champions leagues, for a total of 23 trophies. However, as for Modric, the club gave up a new extension of 12 months and it leaves the club after the Club World Cup.
What future for Lucas Vazquez?
Vazquez will celebrate his 34th birthday in early July, but he is in great demand: according to Diario Sport, he would have already received offers from Qatar and the Saudi Pro League.
However, his current preference seems to be on Spain, with two potential offers in progress. Espanyol is open upon his return to RCDE Stadium, despite his recent relegation, if Vazquez is convinced. If it is confident to stay at the Liga level, an offer of Mallorca could be its privileged option, because Jagoba Arrasate seeks to bring more experience.
