At the end of April, when the Italian's mandate was finished and Encelotti and Real Madrid planned the future, a rather unusual situation occurred.
Despite the club's radio silence and Ancelotti's denials, the Italian coach was in talks with Brazil to become their coach, and the Merengues had contacted Xabi Alonso to entrust him with the next generation. At the time, Brazil led a charming offensive, and the intermediary Diego Fernandes was a constant presence at the Santiago Bernabéu.
FIFA opens an investigation into the Diego Fernandes Commission
Fernandes, a Brazilian businessman close to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), but without an official role, stayed in Madrid to try to negotiate an agreement between Ancelotti and Brazil. Once the agreement was concluded, Fernandes was photographed with Ancelotti, and the journalist specializing in transfers, Fabrizio Romano, described it as “carrying out negotiations”.
As Sport explains, FIFA has opened an investigation into negotiations and demanded that the CBF is explained on the commission of 1.2 million euros paid to Fernandes. The Catalan daily explains that it was hired by the CBF and that its name appears on the Ancelotti contract.
Fernandes is not an authorized agent
The problem lies in the fact that Fernandes is not an agent approved by FIFA and was therefore not authorized to contact Ancelotti in the name of Brazil. Sport quotes UOL Esporte information, which claims that FIFA demanded explanations from the CBF before June 4, the day before the beginnings of Ancelotti with Brazil against the equator.
Ancelotti ready for his baptism of fire with Brazil
On the ground, Ancelotti is expecting difficult beginnings. The team will play in Quito against Ecuador, then will receive Paraguay the following week. Paraguay occupies second place in the South American qualifying table and has only lost twice. For its part, Paraguay is a place in Brazil and equal points. Under the direction of Gustavo Alfaro, the team has lost no match, beating Argentina in November. Ancelotti has only one year to prepare Brazil for the World Cup next summer.
