It is not a secret for anyone, Florian Wirtz is the absolute priority of Liverpool. The young German midfielder in Bayer Leverkusen is already considered one of the best players in the world and necessarily his profile is coveted by the largest European stables. Last season, after a historic year with Bayer Leverkusen, he was announced on the start. But he had finally decided, like the other executives of the group, to stay a little more in his training club.

But this summer, the management of the German club knows that it will be necessary to turn the page and it is already preparing for its departure. Coveted ardently by Bayern Munich but also by Real Madrid and Manchester City, the 22 -year -old, author of 10 goals and 13 assists in 31 Bundesliga matches, had surprised his world by choosing to go rather to Liverpool. The Reds, reigning England Champions, have even recently reached an agreement with the player on the terms of the contract.

Liverpool drops 130 million

But the hardest part was now to be done for the training of Arne Slot: to agree with Bayer Leverkusen on the amount of the transfer. With a contract that runs until June 2027 and an XXL potential, the German club demanded much more than 100 million euros to let go of its nugget. According to information from The Athletic, Liverpool is from released this Friday an offer of around 130 million euros with bonus to attach the services of the German international (29 selections, 6 goals).

According to the indiscretions of the English media, this is actually the second Liverpool offer for Wirtz. The first had been deemed insufficient and Liverpool has just readjusted its offer to convince Bayer Leverkusen. It remains to be seen whether that will be enough, but the amount of 130 million seems to be clearly closer to what Bayer demanded for his player. If the operation came to succeed, Florian Wirtz would become, by far, the biggest transfer in the history of Liverpool in front of Darwin Nuñez (85 million) and Virgil Van Dijk (84 million).
