Davide Ancelotti seems close to a transfer to the Rangers, where he would become a coach. Luka Modric is expected to join him in Glasgow, after his departure from Real Madrid this summer.

Ancelotti Jr left Real Madrid earlier this week alongside his father Carlo, who took office as coach of the Brazil national team. The 35 -year -old coach will be alongside his father for the two qualification games for the Seleçao World Cup in June, after which he could take his first position as a coach.

And that could be done at the Rangers, the BBC (via MD) reporting that Encelotti had new discussions with the SPFL Première team last week.

Modric would be expected to follow Davide Ancelotti in Rangers

At this point, the Rangers are favorites to name Ancelotti as next coach. And if they do, it is possible that Modric will join the former assistant coach of Real Madrid in Scotland. According to some information, the Croatian international is seriously planning to join Ibrox.

Modric to the Rangers?

Modric will be keen to play at a good level before next summer World Cup in North America, in which he hopes to participate with Croatia. Playing the Rangers, who reached the quarterfinals of the Europa 2024-25 League, would allow it to achieve it, perhaps more than a transfer to MLS or Saudi Arabia, especially since it prefers to stay in Europe.

However, the dreams of Rangers supporters seem to have been destroyed before they even started. The famous Spanish journalist Guillem Balague took stock of the situation in a post on X, and clearly indicated that Modric would not join Glasgow once his visit to Real Madrid finished, after the club World Cup this summer.
