Inter's mad choice for the final

Inter Milan is about to experience one of the most intense moments of its season. Second in Serie A and Semi-finalist of the Italian Cup, the Lombard club will especially play this Saturday the final of the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain. A shock expected in Munich, with a kick -off scheduled at 9 p.m., which could offer the Inter a fourth LDC, fifteen years after the last.

Pulled out as a team “at home” by UEFA, PSG will evolve with its main dark blue jersey. A decision that forces the Inter to abandon its traditional tunic, deemed too visually close. Logically, the Milanese could have turned to their outdoor jersey, white, but it is ultimately their yellow and black Third that will be out at the Allianz Arena.

The club puts everything on the jersey

An aesthetic choice? Not really. According to La Gazzetta dello Sportit was the players of the Inter themselves who insisted to wear this jersey. A choice entirely dictated by superstition. Indeed, the Nerazzurri have already lost a match in the Champions League this season by wearing their outdoor jersey.

Conversely, their Third brought them luck: two victories in two C1 meetings when they sported him. Eager to put the odds on their side for this decisive meeting, the men of Simone Inzaghi preferred to rely on this textile lucky charm, as unusual it is for a European final.

It will be a first in the history of the Champions League: a team has never played the final with its third jersey. It remains to be seen whether this daring and symbolic choice will allow Inter to overthrow PSG and again lift the cup with big ears.
