Manchester City may have missed Florian Wirtz, but he can still make a brilliant acquisition this season by recruiting Rayan Cherki.

According to The Telegraph, Manchester City would be determined to recruit the Lyonnaise sensation Cherki this summer, after letting Wirtz pass. The first named has already announced his decision to leave the Ligue 1 club at the end of the season, and City wishes to seize this opportunity to recruit the promising young attacking midfielder at an advantageous price.

Cherki is considered by City as a profitable option to strengthen its midfielder as part of its summer reconstruction. With the departure of Kevin de Bruyne and the uncertain future of Jack Grealish, coach Pep Guardiola favors creative reinforcements.

The Sky Blues wanted to conclude the recruitment of Wirtz and had also contacted very early, but finally withdrew from the race, realizing that the financial cost of the operation would represent an important burden for the club. He is now expected to join Liverpool, who has submitted an offer of more than 100 million euros (85 million pounds sterling).

Cherki, meanwhile, offers an enticing perspective, because it could be recruited for a considerably lower amount. Indeed, the 21 -year -old release clause would be between 25 and 30 million euros.

City is expected to make a complete overhaul of its workforce this summer, after what was undoubtedly the worst season of the Guardiola era. The first league giants are said to be in advanced negotiations for AC Milan Tijjani Reijnders midfielder, not to mention that they were also linked to the Nottingham Forest superstar, Morgan Gibbs-White.

The two Manchester on the spot

Cherki's departure is ensured this summer, but its next destination remains uncertain. If Manchester City expressed his interest, Manchester United also embarked on the race for the very coveted midfielder. While his future is still uncertain, the next transfer of Cherki could trigger an auction war while clubs from all over Europe compete for his signature.
