Marion Bartoli, what did you think of the OM season, which was particularly eventful?
As always at OM. We are extremely satisfied to have finished in second place in Ligue 1, knowing that PSG does not contribute in the same category. So we finish first of the other clubs. And that is a big satisfaction, especially after the very complicated period when we no longer won the slightest match (between the end of February and early April 2025, editor's note). We then found ourselves in an uncomfortable situation when we had a small mattress before this series of negative results.
Also satisfied with Roberto de Zerbi's work?
Yes, I liked the way he managed his group, moving away from the commandery at the end of the season. This made it possible to tighten the links between the players. And today we are qualified for the next Champions League.
Do you have special expectations for the transfer window?
Thanks to this direct qualification in C1, we will be able to attract profiles like that of Amine Gouiri. Or be able to do a blow again as with the recruitment of Adrien Rabiot last year. However, it is on the defensive level that we will have to concentrate. Even if Gerónimo Rulli has made exploits in goals, this sector of play must be reinforced. Even if we will never arrive at the level of the workforce of Paris Saint-Germain, simply because we do not have the same means. PSG is a club-state with unlimited means, which is not the case with OM.
Bartoli: “I try to be as objective as possible”
What are your expectations for next season?
Make a good European companion, a little on the model of the Brest stadium. Knowing that our means are higher than those of the Breton club. Succeed in extricating from the initial phase of the Champions League and possibly pass the knockout stages. If we receive large displacement at the Vélodrome, such as Real Madrid or Liverpool, it will give exceptional atmospheres. Everything supporters expect!
As an OM supporter, how do you understand the Champions League final on Saturday between PSG and Inter Milan?
Since I work for the media, I have a duty of neutrality. My heart of a supporter speaks for OM but, in no case will I be against a French club. I also talked about it with Didier Deschamps during the UNFP trophies ceremony. My perspective is not to be against someone or to want their misfortune. I try to be as objective as possible. Obviously, I hope that a French club won this Champions League, if only for the good of our football.
