Real Madrid captain Luka Modric will not lack transfer offers after the FIFA club World Cup to be held this summer in the United States.

Following the club's call not to extend its contract for the 2025/26 season, Modric is preparing to put an end to 13 years in the Spanish capital, but he does not plan to retire.

The 39-year-old has constantly expressed his wish to extend a year in Madrid, to play beyond his 40th anniversary in September and to lead Croatia to the 2026 World Cup.

However, the desire for change is strong at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, and Modric will join Carlo Ancelotti for a transfer this summer.

Under the terms of his current contract, Modric's contract does not end in June and he will be the captain of Real Madrid in the United States, and their commitment could extend until mid-July.

MLS makes an initial offer to Modric

According to Diario AS, MLS clubs will use the Club World Cup as a starting point to contact Modric for a transfer to North America.

Concentrated on the 2026 World Cup, staying in the United States could be beneficial if he wishes to limit disturbances in his preparation.

Inter Milan offers Modric a last challenge in the Champions League

Fichajes.net, a specialist in transfers, says that a stay in Europe could still be an option, Modric being ready to play UEFA Champions League an additional year.

Inter Milan, a 2025 finalist, would have contacted its representatives following the confirmation of its departure from Real Madrid.

Simone Inzaghi has become used to recruiting experienced players in recent seasons, and Modric would be a major asset.

Inter Milan will not make any decision before the Champions League final against PSG on May 31, and Modric will ask to wait until July.
