Real Madrid is preparing to turn a historic page. Luka Modric, 39, will leave the White House this summer, after thirteen dream seasons and an unrivaled track record. Thursday evening, the club formalized its departure. The Croatian, the most successful player in Real history with 28 trophies, will play his last match at the Bernabéu before making his final goodbyes during the Club World Cup. A legend leaves, and with her, an era ends. But already, the succession is organized.

According to the daily Marca, Real Madrid has already checked a name to succeed Modric: Vitinha. The Portuguese midfielder of PSG appeals to Merengues leaders. Author of a capital season under Parisian colors, he has established himself as an essential element of the collective of Luis Enrique. His regularity, his vision of the game and his volume of racing make him one of the most complete profiles of the moment in the middle.

Vitinha, the surprise heir to Modric in Madrid?

With PSG, Vitinha shines. French champion, still in the running for a historic hat -trick (Cup, C1), he was one of the engines of the Parisian midfield. Last February, it extended until 2029, proof of its importance. Its value is estimated at 60 million euros, but for Paris, there is no question of selling. Especially since Luis Enrique considers him as his best player, even ahead of Kylian Mbappé. This gives the measure of the player who covets today Madrid.

Vitinha targeted by Real to succeed Modric

Despite Real's interest, a departure seems difficult. Relations tense between the two clubs, especially after the Mbappé file, complicate any negotiation. But in football, nothing is ever frozen. Vitinha, already considered one of the best European circles, would be a credible and ambitious successor to Modric, even if styles differ.

As for Luka Modric, history could end where it all started: at Dinamo Zagreb, his training club. This homecoming would echo his exceptional career. But in Madrid, the after-modric is already in all heads … and perhaps goes through Paris.
