Arrived at OM during the last winter transfer window, Ismaël Bennacer aroused real hopes. His experience, his talent and his profile seemed to correspond perfectly to the needs of the Marseille club, in search of stability in the midfield. However, a few months later, the situation is anything but Claire. While the championship has just ended, doubts hover over the possibility of seeing the Algerian community continue its adventure in Marseille.

Bennacer, landed by AC Milan at the end of January, had little respite: if he disputed twelve games under the Olympian colors, he only finished one in his entirety, against Toulouse in early April. Between recurring muscle injuries and lack of rhythm, he never really could find the level that had made him a frame in Milan. Already weakened by a long absence before his arrival, the player did not reassure his ability to chain.

Injuries and doubts: the future of Bennacer to OM more uncertain than ever

This situation logically pushes Pablo Longoria and his team to think. Marseille had bet on Bennacer to strengthen the heart of the game, but his absences and his physical condition question. At the time of choices, the staff wishes to favor regularity: to appear among the big wages, you must be able to weigh every week on the field. The cost of its transfer (12 million euros) does not help to lift the uncertainties.

Bennacer, a contrasting assessment for six months of testing

Despite these vagaries, Bennacer posted an impeccable state of mind and was precious when he was aligned. His potential complementarity with the philosophy of Roberto de Zerbi is still attracting internally. But for OM to be committed permanently, it will take guarantees on the health of the player. An appointment between all games is planned to decide.

The outcome of the Bennacer file remains suspended from these discussions. A departure is no longer to be excluded after only six months in Marseille. Summer promises to be crucial for the Algerian environment: his future will depend as much on his sensations as on the club's will to bet on him. A page could already turn, much faster than expected.
