Barcelona benefited from a major boost in the race for the transfer of Marcus Rashford, the star of Manchester United, this summer.

Rashford is expected to leave Manchester in the coming months after impressing in his six -month loan at Aston Villa, the Unai Emery team fighting for a place in the UEFA Champions League.

Emery has paused her interest in Rashford, preferring to wait for the end of the season before deciding on the maintenance of the English international.

This indecision could play in favor of Barcelona, but longtime financial obstacles also slow down this perspective.

Manchester United fixes the price of Rashford in Barcelona

United indicated that no agreement had been concluded to give a right of pre -emption to Villa on a transfer from Rashford, and that the price requested would be 40 million pounds sterling.

This price is identical to the current Villa purchase option on Rashford, but it is not an exclusive clause, and other clubs can enter the race.

The player's price is in the Barcelona price range, but due to compliance with the 1: 1 transfers rule, Hansi Flick will have to sell players before making a potential offer.

Rashford takes the first step in negotiations with Barça

Barcelona hoped for an advance in negotiations to get ahead of Villa, and information from Mundo Deportivo indicates that they have found one.

The current salary from Rashford to United would be around £ 315,000 per week, a salary that Barcelona will simply not pay.

Villa covers around 75 % of his salary as part of his loan contract, United completing the rest.

Any transfer to Catalonia would require a salary reduction, and Rashford would be ready to considerably drop his salary to conclude a transfer.

This is an important step, but Barcelona also plans a loan offer, with a clause providing for its acquisition at the end of the 2025/26 season.
