Valencia reacted strongly to the documentary very recently released on Vinicius, in which the club and its Mestalla stadium are again pointed out, after the episodes of racist insults against the Brazilian. Reader explains that the Spanish stable denounces a manipulation of images, in particular a sequence in which the word “tonto” (idiot), chanted by a part of the public, is subtitled on the screen by “mono” (monkey), a racist term in the present case. According to Valence, this alteration does not reflect the reality of the facts and seriously infringes its image.
Faced with this presentation deemed defamatory, the club announced that it was seriously studying the possibility of filing a complaint against Netflix. The leaders believe that the documentary is trading events in Mestalla in May 2023 and ignores the efforts made since to sanction the managers identified. Valence says that an isolated group is at the origin of racist insults, as recognized by the Spanish authorities and even Carlo Ancelotti at the time.
