In recent hours, Serhou Guirassy had agitated the planet Mercato. Announced as an absolute priority to strengthen the Parisian attack, the Borussia Dortmund striker seemed close to an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain. But a whole new development is shaking up this affair which nevertheless seemed so well committed. Parisian supporters may be surprised by this completely unexpected reversal of situation.
In reality, according to information revealed by Foot Mercato, PSG has no concrete intention to recruit Serhou Guirassy this summer. Contrary to what the German newspaper Bild recently worked, the capital's club would absolutely not have placed the Guinean scorer on its priority list. Despite an exceptional season (33 goals and 9 assists in 44 games in all competitions), the Dortmund player ultimately does not interest Luis Enrique, who favors other tracks.
However, Guirassy has a particularly attractive profile, strangely recalling that of Randal Kolo Muani. Like his compatriot, he exploded in the Bundesliga after struggling to convince in League 1. But precisely, the recent failure of Kolo Muani in the Paris jersey could have cooled the leaders of PSG. Despite statistics superior to those of the former Nantes, Guirassy may indirectly undergo the consequences of this previous bad experience.
Can Guirassy really regret Paris?
Another plausible explanation for this unexpected turnaround: the revelation of Ousmane Dembélé in the center-forward post. Since last January, Luis Enrique has found an effective and prolific number 9 in Dembélé. Consequently, recruiting an additional axial striker, even efficient, would hardly have sense except to consider Guirassy as a lining. However, it is difficult to imagine Dortmund's current spearhead accepting to come to Paris simply to play the second roles, as Gonzalo Ramos recently experienced.
Despite this episode, Serhou Guirassy does not have to be ashamed of his situation. Author of a remarkable career in Germany, he has become one of the best scorers in Europe this season. Its future remains open to other prestigious clubs, notably in the Premier League. For PSG, however, the case now seems to be classified. Paris will continue its quest for reinforcements elsewhere, letting Guirassy continue its ascent far from the Parc des Princes.
