The English international, loaned by United in February, has regained form and confidence with four goals and five assists at Villa. According to The Express, despite previous links with Barcelona, Rashford would now prefer to stay in the West Midlands, if the circumstances allow.
Villa obtained an option to buy 40 million pounds sterling for Rashford at the end of his loan. However, their decision will probably depend on the European competition to which they will qualify next season.
Marcus Rashford wants to stay in Aston Villa
If the club wins a place in the Champions League, its financial situation could support such a transfer. But a lower level competition could oblige to review its investment priorities.
The main obstacle to the sustainability of the contract lies in the high salary of Rashford. The 27 -year -old is currently earning around £ 350,000 per week, an amount that would upset the current wage structure of villa. This level of remuneration could be difficult to justify, especially if the club fails to obtain the financial boost of a qualification for the Champions League.
Barcelona could also be dissuaded by the same wage demands. Although Spanish giants have maintained their interest, their own financial constraints – and their competing priorities – could force them to explore more profitable targets. It would seem that Rashford called on the Pini Zahavi super-agent to explore further the Catalan option, in case Villa could not respect its conditions.
