We had suspected it for a while now, but it is now official: FC Barcelona is the new Spanish champion, recovering the crown of king who belonged so far to Real Madrid, crowned last season. Following his victory during the Barcelona derby against Espanyol, the Hansi Flick team was rewarded for its excellent 2024/2025 exercise, with this last weekend clasico which had practically sealed this race for the title in its favor.

A more complicated match than expected

The meeting had however been more difficult to negotiate than what many observers thought, so much so that sometimes it was impression that it was Espanyol who played the title. The Pericos even had several hot situations against poorly inspired blaugranas, and the two teams went to the break on a score of 0-0. But on the return from the locker room, Lamine Yamal still made his own, with a superb opposite skylight strike of which he alone has the secret. The click. In the second period, we saw a much more enterprising barça, sharp in the last opposing meters. The expulsion of Leandro will shed ten minutes from the end following an elbow on Lamine Yamal made things simpler for the men of Hansi Flick, who quietly managed the end of the match. Fermin Lopez, in additional time, signed the 2-0 with a nice strike from the entrance to the surface.

A title that crosses an exceptional season, during which the Barcelonans dominated their subject without too many doubts or difficult moments, apart from a small black series in November. The Blaugranas will have notably shown the muscles against Real Madrid with two big victories in the clasicos, and above all feasted Spain with a particularly offensive and enticing game. The Pedri band thus displays 97 achievements in 36 games, or 2.7 goals scored per match on average, which is enormous.

Total superiority over Real Madrid

Clearly, this first season of Hansi Flick in Catalonia is therefore a real success, since in addition to this coronation in La Liga, Barça also won the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa Del Rey, by beating its best enemy each time. It must be said that the German was helped by several players who walked on the water since the initial whistle of this edition of the Spanish championship last August. We necessarily think of Lamine Yamal, a raphinha as brilliant as it is surprising, as well as a Robert Lewandowski author of 25 goals, who may however bow to Kylian Mbappé (28 goals) for the Pichichi.

Beyond the offensive sector, other players have also rendered very good performances, like Jules Koundé, íñigo Martínez, the surprise recruit Wojciech Szczęsny and a Frenkie de Jong found. The season has also been marked by the appearance of certain young people who came to lend a hand as a first team, such as Gerard Martin or Marc Casado, and by the confirmation of other nuggets which had so far only the label of hope, like Pau Cubarsi. Very solid bases were laid for next season, where this Barça has all the cards in hand to make a pretty back to back
