Champions League, a death draw for OM?

The time is for relief in the OM locker room. Saturday evening, on the occasion of the 33e Ligue 1 day, the Marseillais won on the lawn of Le Havre (3-1). A success synonymous with direct qualification for the next edition of the Champions League.

Second in the ranking with 62 points on the clock, the Olympians can actually only be doubled by Monaco, which is only one length late. Monegasques which, too, are guaranteed to compete in the C1 in 2025-2026.

It remains to be seen what will be the eight opponents of the Roberto de Zerbi players during the league phase. It is on August 28 that they will be fixed on their fate, and the verdict may be terrible for Olympians who will be a priori in hat 3.

Very heavy for OM!

In the worst case, in the current state of things, the sky and white could thus inherit FC Barcelona (or Real Madrid), Bayern Munich (or Inter Milan), Arsenal, Atlético Madrid, Sporting Portugal, Naples, Galatasaray and Newcastle!

As a reminder, the draw for the new formula of the Champions League provides that two clubs from the same country cannot compete in the first phase and that a team cannot challenge more than two representatives of the same championship.

According to our most dramatic simulation of the scenarios, the presence of Arsenal in hat 2 and Newcastle in pot 4 would avoid OM from falling on one of the English Cadors in hat 1 (Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United).
