Leandro Trossard is preparing to sign a contract extension with Arsenal according to the Sport Mail. The Belgian, at the end of the lease in 2026, scored 27 goals with the Gunners since his arrival in mid-season in 2023 from Brighton. These goals, he might have scored them in the Olympique de Marseille jersey and still be at the club today …

Stéphane Tessier, the former OM Managing Director – he was for three years until he left in 2024 – revealed that the arrival of Trossard was being studied two years ago, before he joined the Gunners. The player seemed starting to discover Ligue 1 and the fervor of the Vélodrome stadium, but a disagreement occurred between Tessier and the sports director of the time, David Friio.

“David had advanced a lot, but we never found the economic model to integrate it”. Translation: Tessier, whose main mission was to reduce costs, blocked the transaction, or at least the way in which it was going to finalize.

An important player in Arsenal

The negotiations then continued with Arsenal, which obviously did not have the same constraints. The left winger who passed by Genk obviously does not regret his choice, as he is appreciated on the side of London and should be again an important member of the group of Mikel Arteta next season.

Trossard was the holder in the first leg (0-1) against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-finals, but failed to deceive the vigilance of Gianluigi Donnarumma, who notably defeated him on a crossed strike in the first half. On the other hand, he played only 22 minutes in the return match, in which his team lost (2-1) at the Parc des Princes.
