What future for CR7 in Al Nassr? Almost two and a half years after his arrival in Saudi Pro League, Cristiano Ronaldo is still waiting for his first major title with the Saudi club. Apart from the Arab Cup of Champions 2023 clubs, a competition not recognized by FIFA, the five -time Ballon d'Or has not added a line to its record. Faced with this failure, Ronaldo asks for changes to hope to take a course with his team.
At the end of the contract next June, the Portuguese is ready to extend its contract for an additional two years, with an astronomical salary of 200 million euros per season. However, it conditions this extension to a deep reorganization within the club, in order to make the team more competitive. According to Okaz Sports, Ronaldo demanded changes in the technical direction, asking for the departure of coach Stefano Pioli, who arrived in September, and the sports director Fernando Hierro.
Players for sale, others intransferable
Regarding the workforce, Ronaldo also appointed several players whom he deems non -compliant with the club's ambitions. This is the case of defender Aymeric Laporte, who has struggled to regain his best level since his arrival in Saudi Arabia. Guardian Bento and wingers Wesley and ângelo, who arrived last summer for a total of 60 million euros, are also on the hot seat. These decisions aim to lighten the wage bill and attract profiles more suited to the needs of the club.
However, Ronaldo is not entirely negative on his team. He wants to keep some players who have shown their potential this season. Thus, the captain of the Portuguese selection asked to keep Mohamed Simakan, Otavio, Marcelo Brozovic, Sadio Mané and Jhon Duran, of the elements in whom he has confidence to strengthen the team in the future. These players were noticed for their good performances and are seen as pillars to build the team of tomorrow.
It remains to be seen whether the management of Al Nassr will accept the requests of his star to develop the team and reduce the gap with the rival clubs. An adjustment that could determine the future of the club and Ronaldo's ability to add titles to his Saudi record.
