No one had scored their first goal in the Champions League at the age of 37. This is the incredible feat achieved by Francesco Acerbi, Tuesday evening, during a legendary return semi-final between Inter Milan and FC Barcelona. After a 3-3 incredible 3-3 go to Catalonia, with a phenomenal Lamine Yamal in the face of interlists who led 2-0 and 3-1, the second round offered an even more incredible show.

The Nerazzurri led again 2-0, thanks to Lautaro Martinez (21st) and Hakan Calhanoglu (45th+1), but the Blaugranas completely overthrew the situation in the second period. Eric Garcia (54th) and Dani Olmo (60th) allowed the FCB to return to the score, then Raphinha gave visitors to the 87th minute of the game. The Barcelonais already saw themselves in the final of the C1 on May 31 in Munich!

It was without counting an improbable goal signed Acerbi. The experienced central defender of the Inter of Simone Inzaghi ended up at the forefront of the attack on her team and, on a center of Denzel Dumfries, dominated Ronald Araujo to equalize in force in the 3rd minute of additional time (90th+3). An extension torn off by Inter in an indescribable delirium at Giuseppe-Meazza.

Acerbi behind Giggs

Acerbi becomes the second oldest goalscorer in the history in direct elimination the Champions League behind Ryan Giggs. The former Welsh winger of Manchester United scored at the age of 37 and 148 days in a semi-final to go against Schalke 04, in April 2011.

At 37 and 85 days old, Francesco Acerbi is thus ahead of his former teammate from Inter Edin Dzeko, a scorer at 37 years and 54 days in May 2023 against AC Milan in the first leg of the LDC.
