The bad news is linked for OL. The Rhone club has just received a heavy fine imposed by UEFA.

Nothing is going to Olympique Lyonnais anymore. After the defeat conceded against RC Lens (2-1), which moves it away from a possible qualification in the Champions League, OL has just received a news which will not please all the Rhodanian supporters.

In great financial difficulty, OL is under the threat of a demotion in Ligue 2 by the DNCG. If the club cannot pay its debts in total amount of 117 million euros, the new financial sanction which it has just scored will not arrange its situation. Indeed, UEFA published a press release in which it listed the twenty clubs to which it inflicted fines due to unpaid debts towards other clubs, employees and/or social and tax authorities.

At the top of this list, we find Olympique Lyonnais. The Gones receive the greatest fine, in the amount of 200,000 euros. However, OL escapes sports sanctions which could prevent it from competing in European competition in the event of qualification.

OL also sanctioned by FIFA

Last March, it was FIFA which already sanctioned Lyonnais. The world football body had decided to ban the club of the capital of Gaul from any recruitment of players over 15 years old. The cause? Olympique Lyonnais would not have paid for training compensation to several clubs.

While the situation seemed to be settled, as the club had indicated in the columns of Progress He was a few weeks old, FIFA would have pinned it again on May 2 for the same reason. Contacted by the Olympique-et-Lyonnais media, OL's management indicates that ” Everything came back to normal, it was settled by the club ”.
