Manchester United is preparing to lose their oldest employee, following the dismissal strategy led by Ineos and Sir Jim Ractliffe.

Marie Marron, liaison agent with UEFA and the Premier League, will no longer work in Old Trafford after the end of the season, reports Le Times. Since the death of her receptionist Kath Phipps in December, her 47 years spent in Manchester United – since 1978 – have made her the oldest employee of the club. She would have been informed during an interview opposite her departure scheduled at the end of the season and would be “devastated” by the news. Brown assured his role as a liaison agent before last week's Europa League match against the Athletic Club after the abolition of his post, and will continue to do so in the coming weeks.

Under the direction of Ractliffe, United has deleted jobs since last summer to reduce costs. The first wave resulted in 250 layoffs, and a second wave, up to 200, is currently identified and treated.

In total, the Times adds that the objective is to reduce the workforce to around 700 people, 550 less than the 1,250 people who were in office when the Ineos diet took control of the club. The loyal and long -standing employees, as well as the oldest, have not been spared by the harsh realities that the new co -owner affirmed as necessary to protect the club's financial future. In an interview with Times in March, Ratcliffe had warned: ” The costs had become uncontrollable. To simplify, there are operating costs, which include all staff costs and fixed operating costs. There are also all the costs related to the workforce, wages and acquisitions of players. In very simple terms, the club spends more money than it has made for it for seven years, and it finds itself in a very difficult situation. And for Manchester United, this situation ended at the end of this year, at the end of 2025, the club being short of liquidity. ”

United aims to reduce its costs and increase its income to stabilize its finances after a few difficult years. The best solution, and the most immediate, to generate more income is to win the Europa League and to harvest lucrative fruits from a qualification for the Champions League.

If the Red Devils do not win this trophy at the end of the month, there will be no more European football at all in 2025-26. They largely lead 3-0 in the semi-finals against the Athletic Club and could face Tottenham, which leads 3-1 against Bodo/Glimt, in the final in Bilbao.
