The former Manchester United striker joined Marseille last summer for 31.6 million euros after a liga loan in Getafe.

Greenwood scored 18 goals in 31 championship games for Marseille and occupies second place in the scorer ranking in France, behind Ousmane Dembélé. He signed a five -year contract on his arrival in Marseille, but he now aspires to a return to the Premier League, according to The Sun.

Back to the sender for Greenwood?

Manchester United took advantage of the arrival of Greenwood after having clearly established that he had no future at the club. The accusations of attempted rape, aggression and coercive and dominating behavior against the attacker were abandoned in February 2023, but he no longer played for United after January 2022. He continued to shine in Marseille, where his goals allowed the Roberto team of Zerbi to qualify for the Champions League next season. However, everything was not easy: the Italian coach criticized Greenwood during the season and even put him on the bench due to concerns about his attitude. A source told Tabloid:

“When Mason left United, he loved Spain. He and Harriet moved to Madrid and rebuilt their lives. He loved being able to simply play football and that his life outside the field is not the subject of so much attention. He was delighted to sign in Marseille and loved living in France. But it has been abroad for almost two years and the attraction of novelty has faded. Mason received the visit of his family, but he is very introverted and his extended family and his friends are missing. A return to the northwest could suit him, because he feels that the resentment he has suffered before has appeared a little and that people may have moved on to something else.

Greenwood no longer exists

Rumors circulated on a possible recruitment of Greenwood by clubs like Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, although little interest on the part of the Premier League teams was mentioned. Indeed, the former Manchester United striker was warned that he “no longer existed” in England despite his performance in Marseille. Greenwood and Marseille will be back on the field on Sunday for a decisive shock against Lille in Ligue 1.
