Didier Drogba remains faithful to OM! The former Ivorian international found the velodrome Friday evening, on the occasion of the Legends match organized to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Olympique de Marseille. Whoever scored the spirits in his only season at OM (32 goals in 55 games in 2003-2004), took advantage of the event to immerse themselves in the Marseille atmosphere. But in the mixed zone, a question quickly brought back the ex-player from Chelsea to the hot news of the Champions League.

Asked about his preference between Arsenal and PSG, both in the semi-finals of the C1 this season, Drogba responded without detour, while skillfully dodging: “Do you really want to know the answer?” Neither of the two teams. But I think that for French football, it's good to have a team that goes so far. Good luck to them. »» A statement that testifies to both his attachment to Marseille and his assumed neutrality.

The shadow of the rivalry between OM and PSG was never far away, and Drogba did not hide it. When a journalist asks him if he feels a form of frustration to see Paris shining in the Champions League, his answer is brief but full of innuendo: ” Suffering? In all sincerity? Without comment! It's the truth. So much the better for them but it won't change anything. »»

“Forever the first”

The former scorer concluded by recalling the famous slogan dear in the heart of Marseille supporters: “Forever the first, as they say. »» A subtle but clear way to recall that OM remains to date the only French club sacred in the Champions League in 1993.

If he was cautious when commenting on the PSG course, Didier Drogba still slipped a word on the continuation of the competition. Without preferably clearly expressed, the former striker simply wished the winner of the other semi-final between FC Barcelona and Inter Milan to go to the end, thus eluding any clear taking between the clubs still in the running.
