Four days from the end of the Premier League, Arsenal is closer to a third consecutive vice-champion title. A position that testifies as much about the impressive regularity of the Gunners in recent seasons as the frustration of seeing, once again, the title of Champion of England escape them.

Present at a press conference before the reception of Bournemouth this Saturday, Mikel Arteta did not hide his disappointment to see Liverpool win the 20th title of his history … on the nose and the beard of his men. As a reminder, during the last two exercises, it was Manchester City who had finished at the top of the ranking, exceeding the Londoners, however initial leaders, in the final days.

Arteta badly digests the coronation of Liverpool

“If it hurts?” Yes, really. I had a stomach ache ”, said the Basque technician.
“I understand that Liverpool is a more regular team and that it has a lot of ingredients necessary to win the title, but it is very painful. I also take this opportunity to congratulate Liverpool for what they have done, their management, their regularity. I think they deserve to win. It's the best team, they have so many qualities, a consistent workforce. (…) I looked at a small part of their celebrations, it can increase your motivation but it is not the most important. My motivations concern other aspects. But it hurts to look at that, that's for sure. »»

After their match against the Cherries, Arsenal will have an appointment at the Parc des Princes next Wednesday to face Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final return of the Champions League. After a 1-0 defeat at the Emirates, the Arteta team is back to the wall. She will have no other choice than to prevail to hope to win her ticket for the final in Munich, May 31, and perhaps win a title this season.
