Evangelos Marinakis, owner of Nottingham Forest, will fall back if his club manages to qualify for the Champions League, several British media report this Wednesday. Already the majority shareholder of the Olympiakos, a qualified Greek club for the C1, it will have to comply with the UEFA regulation which prohibits having two clubs in the same European competition.
In the event of qualification, the businessman would place his shares in an independent asset management organization, a temporary maneuver already used by Ineos with Nice to allow cohabitation with Manchester United in the Europa League. Currently 6th in the Premier League, Nottingham can still dream of a return to the most prestigious of European competitions, 44 years after its last appearance.
