According to the media, in recent days and weeks, Xabi Alonso will successfully succeeded Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid's main coach, but only after the FIFA club World Cup, which will start in June and will be held in the United States this summer.
It seems that Santiago Solari, currently sports director of Real Madrid, will assure the temporary worker, but for only one month. Solari already directed Madrid for 32 games in the 2018-2019 season, taking up its acting after the dismissal of Julen Lopetegui, then occupying a full-time position for a short period.
Carlo Ancelotti should join the Seleçao in June
Alonso himself has its own plan for its beginnings. On the one hand, he wishes to take some rest after the Bundesliga season, which ends for him and Bayer Leverkusen on May 17 against Mainz, in order to decide which contract he wishes to sign with Real. On the other hand, he favors a structured start to the season, without having to immediately lead a team that he does not know at all through a tournament, especially since many players may be unavailable due to injury after an exhausting season.
Xabi Alonso planned to succeed Carlo Ancelotti
The Merengues live a season which could end without any major title, which explains why the current coach, Ancelotti, has suffered many criticisms. His departure has become more and more obvious in recent weeks. According to The Athletic, he would have already spoken to his technical staff and would have informed them that he would not fulfill his contract, which expires in 2026. After being priced for the post of Brazilian coach since the end of 2023, it is now almost confirmed that the legendary Italian coach will join the Seleçao in June and will be in charge for the next year World Cup.
Ancelotti still has five games to play before leaving Madrid, the biggest coach in the history of the club, at least in terms of awards. Madrid is currently four points behind his Barcelona rival and will face Celta Vigo in his next match on Sunday, May 4.
